"What a wonderful evening everyone. The parade started on Church Street, led by a councilor in Victorian costumes, followed by Santa Claus in his sleigh, accompanied by the mayor and the mayor, and then carrying lanterns. The samba band led the back end into Westgate Street and into the square. We met a crowd of bustling people, all of them enjoying the atmosphere of waiting for the festive lights to light up.

"This fall, six schools participated in a competition to design Christmas cards, and the winner was given the privilege of turning on the lights. There were 105 entries, all of very high and interesting standards. The winner was a 7-year-old from St Catherine's CofE Elementary School Lydia Gardener.

"Rob Tremain introduced Lydia to the crowded city center. She pressed the plunger and the lights came on. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful display. Santa Claus was giving gifts to the children in his cave.

"Then the mayor, deputy mayor and I went to St. Mary’s Church, where I opened the Christmas Tree Festival, which was a gorgeous display. Across the street from the Central Methodist Church, people were warmly welcome to watch the nativity scene. .

"At the end of our duties early in the day and in the evening, we were very happy to be able to judge the shop window competition, with Country Chic in first place, The Byre in second and third Lowen Bridal. Congratulations, thank you all for yours Participate, thanks to everyone who helped make this evening so wonderful and successful.
